Jump Rope & Gymnastics

We made it out to the last home gymnastics meet of the year. We have loved going to these. Before the meet started they had an elementary school jump rope team - this was the second time we have seen them and they are unbelievable. It makes you tired just watching them. I can't imagine how many hours it would take to learn everything they do and with the skill they do it with.

Alabama Rugby

To see more pictures related to Alabama Rugby & Order Prints you see on this post click here

Yesterday I went to the rec fields at Alabama University where they were having a Rugby tournament. This was my first live experience watching rugby. It was intense to say the least. Imagine a bunch of huge guys running full speed into someone else without pads or helmets on. I will call these guys "mans men." During the game there were several injuries, blood, and sweat spilled on the field. The game calls for grace, strategy, planning, quickness, and raw force. I am planning on learning some of the rules so I better understand what I am watching - hopefully you get a glimpse of the rugby experience here through the images.

Alabama Gymnastics

I have always appreciated gymnastics - It should be considered an extreme sport some of the things they do.  Since we have moved to Alabama we have not stopped hearing about the Gymnastics team at the university.  Soon I became friends and bike riding partners with David Patterson one of the coaches at Alabama.  Once we experienced the first meet we were hooked.  The Patterson's over the past 30 YEARS have done such a great job building the program, and making it a community event.  It is amazing to see 13,000 people at a gymnastics meet.  The last meet was the "Pink Meet" raising awareness and funds for breast cancer.  I am sure we will only become bigger die hard fans as the years go on.
